Between Sun And Palms

Artist Statement

In this series, I explore the captivating dance of different species of palm trees from my hometown: Maracaibo, Venezuela. The palm tree often symbolizes warmth and paradise, but also tells a deeper story of endurance and adaptation in a world marked by change. Through my lens, I aim to reveal how these organic forms transcend their natural simplicity, becoming dynamic, ever-shifting patterns that evoke a sense of movement and energy. The palms seem to pulse and flow as if alive, creating a geometry that feels beyond this world.

Each image in this collection reflects my fascination with the way these trees interact with light, shadow, and their surroundings. The leaves appear to defy their physical constraints, forming complex, almost futuristic structures. The resulting images invite viewers to experience the palm tree in a new way—beyond the familiar symbol of paradise, they become living sculptures, where geometry and movement converge in an awe-inspiring fusion. Whether bathed in the golden glow of sunrise or framed against a dramatic sky, the palm stands in quiet defiance, offering an invitation to pause and reflect.

This project aims to not only celebrate their beauty but also challenge the perception of reality. I invite the viewer to see beyond the familiar, revealing intricate patterns, textures, and colors that suggest something otherworldly.
