On July 10, 2015 Lawndale Art Center had the opening reception for all Houstonians and guests to The Big Show, an annual open-call, juried exhibition. For this year's exhibition, a total of 76 works by 62 artists were selected from 972 works submitted by 355 artists living within 100 miles of Houston by guest juror, George Scheer, Executive Director & Co-Founder, Elsewhere, Greensboro, NC were the american-venezuelan artist Graciela Socorro presented for the first time on this show her art piece called "Bindu Star" which it is characterized by its color explosion and 3D dynamism inviting all guest to have a closer look to its detailed surface determined by handmade elements made out of clay and acrylic paint.
Visit this interesting Art Center where you can find different styles and technics but the harmony of the event resides in the contemporary art's features existing between the selected artists as well as the cohesion of different elements on each piece. The Big Show will be displayed until August 8, 2015 at Lawndale Art Center located at 4912 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002.
Afterwards Graciela Socorro will be presenting "Bindu Coralina" for the New Texas Talent Show XXII at Craighead Green Gallery, Dallas, TX on August 8, 2015. A juried exhibition by the guests jurors Terri Provencal, Editor in Chief of Patron Magazine and Barry Whistler, Founder and Director of Barry Whistler Gallery, Dallas, TX.
For the month of September Graciela Socorro and her husband Carlos Ocando (www.carlosocando.com) will be showing their works at ExxonMobile Spring, TX celebrating the National Hispanic Heritage Month. This event is aimed for all ExxonMobile's residents and guests honoring the hispanic culture through diverse activities at their campus in Spring.
